POUL ROSENBAUM, born 1952, is one of the leading pianists in Denmark. He has concertized widely in USA, Europe and Mexico, and he is especially renowned for his performance of contemporary and romantic music.

He has appeared at major festivals (ISCM World Music Days, American Music Week and others), and he has made a number of first performances.

Poul Rosenbaum, graduate from Royal Danish Academy of Music, won a scholarship for further studies at the Juilliard School, New York, and he made his New York debut in 1978. He received Jacob Gade Prize 1978.

His recordings include piano music by Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Schumann, Medtner, complete Charles Griffes Piano Works and other repertoire of the 20’ Century. His recording of Poul Ruders’ Piano Concerto was nominated for a Grammy in 1995.

Together with Sergei Azizjan (violin) and Michaela Fukacova (cello) he is part of Piano Trio.

The bass singer Aage Haugland and Poul Rosenbaumperformed together for many years, and did a number of recordings. Among other things they have recorded Complete Mussorgsky Songs in Russian (Chandos Records), which was highly praized internationally.

In the duo BACK TO BACH Poul Rosenbaum performs piano music by J.S. Bach together with the outstanding Danish jazz bass player Mads Vinding. They present Bach’s piano music in a new way.

Their new CD, “Back To Bach” (2004) has received great reviews.
